UNICA Days 2026

Between 25 to 27 February 2026, UNICA, in collaboration with the IAU, the Delegation for Relations with Canada of the European Parliament, and Science Business hosted the third edition of UNICA Days in Brussels, Belguium. The conference brought together more than 100 participants from 24 countries and 67 institutions and consisted of 5 sessions where 27 speakers shared their knowledge and insights. The 2026 edition of UNICA Days was introduced under the theme ''EU–Canada Cooperation: Shared Values, Shared Futures'' and offered a platform for higher education (HE) networks in Canada and the EU to strengthen collaboration and work together to adress global challenges.

The event highlighted the significance of universities as actors in promoting civic engagement, democratic values, and knowledge production. Following the conference, UNICA published an event report that highlights the growing strategic role of universities in a shifting global landscape, emphasizing EU–Canada cooperation, shared values, and scientific diplomacy. It calls for stronger long-term partnerships, active societal engagement, and responsible innovation. These priorities closely align with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring the importance of international collaboration, networks, and alliances in addressing global challenges and advancing sustainable development.
